abstract

The Lesser White-fronted Goose has been afairly common breeding bird in the northern andmiddle parts of the Scandinavian mountain range.Since a few decades the species is threatened todisappear completely from Fenno-scandia (Norderhaug& Norderhaug 1984), where the populationin 1980 was estimated at 60-90 breeding pairsand 160-260 birds. In Sweden there may be onlyabout 10 pairs left (Nordic Council 1978).
