abstract

The California Great Gray Owl (Strix nebulosa) population is centered in the Yosemite region of the Sierra Nevada (Winter 1980). Efforts were initiated in 1980 to enhance breeding habitat at Ackerson Meadow in the Stanislaus National Forest by providing artificial nests at 1400 m elevation, the lower elevational range for Great Gray Owl breeding in this part of California
