abstract

The Booted Eagle Hieraaetus pennatus is a poorly known raptor that has bred in Catalonia at least since 1989, when the first nest was found. Its confirmed breeding population has increased from 1 breeding pair in 1989 to 13 breeding pairs in 2001. The present study provides information about the population and the nesting habitat selection of the Booted Eagle in central Catalonia from 1990-2001.
