abstract

This study describes the species compositionof insects reared from larvalassemblages collected from Saker nests.Eight coleopteran and one dipteranspecies had been reared, none of whichappear to be specific to raptors’s nestsas a habitat. They are either characteristicto carcasses, or known to occur inmanure, or commensals living in a varietyof mammalian and avian nests.Some of these species may participate inthe transmission of pathogens.
